2026 Fall Scripps Howard Journalism Internship Application

Ends on

The application deadline is Friday, June 12 at 11:59 p.m. (ET).

To combat news deserts across the country and provide important journalistic experience for college students and recent graduates, the Scripps Howard Fund is providing interns to nonprofit newsrooms. The Fund has partnered with the Institute for Nonprofit News (INN) to select eight newsrooms to host these fall internships.

The Athens County Independent, The Baltimore Banner, The Current GA, KOSU, MLK50, New Mexico In Depth, The Salt Lake Tribune and The Texas Tribune will each provide different learning opportunities. You can read each outlet's job description in the application below.

The internships are expected to be full-time (at least 30 hours per week) for 10 weeks and must occur between August 1 and December 31, 2026. Each internship pays a minimum of $15 per hour.

These internships are open to college students (undergraduate and graduate) as well as students graduating college in the 2025-26 school year.

There will be a Zoom Q & A to learn more about the process and talk to hiring managers from the newsrooms involved in this program on Tuesday, June 2, 6 - 7pm (ET). You can register here https://ewscripps.zoom.us/meeting/register/6KeU7sqRSlyFUeXQbHFX8w
