To combat news deserts across the country and provide important journalistic experience for college students and recent graduates, the Scripps Howard Fund is providing interns to nonprofit newsrooms. These newsrooms are based in different locations across the country, and each provide different learning opportunities. The internships will be for 10 - 20 weeks. Each internship pays a minimum of $15 per hour.

The Scripps Howard Fund also has a support fund where selected interns can apply for additional financial help if there are financial obstacles in accepting or completing the internship.

These internships are open to college students (undergraduate and graduate) as well as students graduating college in the 2025-26 school year.

All of these internships will feature weekly training sessions with fellow interns from across the country, in addition to the excellent one-on-one coaching from newsroom leaders.

Those interested in learning more can join the Fund’s virtual Q&A on Jan. 22. Newsroom hiring managers will be present Click here to sign up.

Student journalists are also invited to attend a resume writing workshop on Jan. 14. Register here.

The application deadline is Saturday, January 31.
